Chester Guillory
12/29/1946 ~ 2/9/2010

Chester Guillory, 63, passed away early morning after a long battle with emphysema. Chester transferred his ticket from Local 995 to Local 180 in 1990.

Services are as follows:
Colonial Chapels, 1000 Redwood Street, Vallejo
Visitation Monday, 2/15, and Tuesday, 2/16, 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.
Funeral Wednesday, 2/17, 11:00 A.M.

Norman Long
8/1/1928 ~ 10/29/2009

Norman Long, 81, passed away in his sleep on October 29, 2009.  He was born in Collins, Iowa on August 1, 1928, to Francis and Ethelynd Long.  He grew up in St. Helena and graduated from St. Helena High School in 1946.

He married Winnie Bartow on  July 6,  1956.   They lived in Napa, and together they  raised 5 children, Norma Jane, Alan, Sheri, Greg, and Mark.  Norman worked as an electrician for 42 years, and was a member of local IBEW 180. He retired in 1990 .

Norman’s hobbies included gardening, especially growing orchids, building model trains, flying, photography, and geneology. When he was indoors, he stayed busy on his computer.  His old fashioned work ethic, caring nature and sense of humor will be missed by his family and friends.  He was affectionately known as “Stormin’ Norman.”

He is survived by his wife of  53  years, Winnie Long, daughter, Norma Jane (Jimmy) Seward, Odessa, Texas, sons, Alan Long, Odessa, Greg (Patti) Long, Napa, Mark (Lisa) Long, Napa, and daughter, Sheri Long, Napa; grandchildren, Clint (Cindy), Mindy

(Brent), Jeff, Nick, Tom, Jordan, Amanda, Mindi, Carlie, and Kelsey; and great grandchildren, Tyler, Jacie, Remie, Samantha and Rylie; sister JoAnne Silverman and brother-in-law Fred Bartow (Marilyn).  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law Dick Silverman

 

A service to honor Norman’s life will be held on Monday November 2 at 1:00 in the chapel of Tulocay Funeral Home with graveside committal to follow.  Viewing will be on Sunday November 1 from 12-5:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kaiser Permanente Hospice,  975 Sereno Dr. Vallejo, CA 94589 or North Bay Regional Center, P.O. Ken McCoy
10/1/1936 ~ 8/1/2009

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Brother Ken McCoy; a long time member of IBEW Local 180. His services are Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Church in Fairfield. May God rest his soul, Dan Broadwater.

From "The Reporter", Kenneth Earl "Coy" McCoy passed away Sat., Aug. 1, at his home in Fairfield after a brief illness. Coy was born in Belspring, Va., to Homer and Evelyn McCoy.

After graduating high school he entered the Air Force. While stationed at Travis Air Force Base, he met his wife of 52 years, Betty Jo Parks.

After leaving the service he became an electrician, retiring from IBEW180 in 1999 after more than 40 years. Coy was a member of the Moose Lodge and Classic Unique Car Club. He enjoyed working on old cars, trying his luck at Cache Creek, but most of all following his children's and grandchildren's sports activities. Coy will be remembered as a great family man and was loved by all who knew him.

János Székely
8/3/1967 ~7/17/2009

János “Öcsi” Székely Jr., 41, lost a valiant battle against cancer on July 17, 2009. He was born in Transylvania/Romania on Aug. 3, 1967, to János and Julianna Székely Sr. János came to the United States in 1985 and moved to Napa in 1988. János joined IBEW LU 180 in July 1998 and was employed by Mike Brown Electric; who supported János during his battle against his cancer. The full obituary is in the Napa Valley Register

 

Ken Saylors
3/13/1925 ~ 2/6/2009

Ken retired at the rank of MSG from the US Army and served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Ken joined IBEW local 543 in 1969 then transferred his ticket to Local 180 in 1976. He married Maria in 1978 and retired in 1988 to Florida.

Don Maggini
8/10/1955 – 9/19/2008

The services for Don will be this Friday evening at 7:30 at Claffey & Rota at 1975 Main Street. There will be a reception afterward at Marriott which they will announce at the services. Donations can be made in Don's name to American Cancer Society or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The obituary will be in Friday (9/26/2008) morning's Napa Register.

"KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE"
Memorial Services and Memorial Fund announced

Fairfield, CA - Today the Family of City Councilman Matt Garcia said their final goodbyes to him and Matt has been turned over to the organ donor teams to honor the wishes of Matt to give life even in his death.

In Celebration of the life a young dynamic man who was friend to the young as well as the old, the poor as well as the rich, the weak as well as the strong, the family of City Councilman Matt Garcia has planned a series of opportunities for those wishing to pay their regards to the fallen Councilman.

A Prayer Service has been planned at Councilman Garcia's home church, Parkway Community Church, located at 2397 Heath Drive in Fairfield for Thursday September 4th at 7:00 PM.

A community viewing time has been scheduled for Monday September 8th between 500 PM - 9:00 PM at Liberty Christian Center, located at 2641 N Texas St in Fairfield.

And finally a "Keep the Dream Alive" Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Councilman Garcia's High School, Armijo High School, located at 824 Washington Street in Fairfield on Tuesday September 9th at 4:00 PM.

Matt's story has gained national attention and has young people all over the country wanting to make changes in their communities.

Family Spokesman, Ron Marlette has asked the community that the family continue to be allowed to mourn during this time but has announced that a Memorial Fund has been established at First Bank in Fairfield, located at 2407 Waterman Blvd. Donations can be made out the "Matt Garcia Memorial Fund", the funds will used to help with the final arrangements as well as begin the Matt Garcia, Keep the Dream Alive Foundation which would continue to support all of the programs and dreams that were near and dear to the Councilman.

 

Tom Reed
June 11, 1936 ~ July 25, 2008
Tom was initiated into IBEW Local 180 on April 5, 1958 and retired on June 1, 1998. Tom was born at Parks Victory Hospital in Napa, attended local schools and graduated from Napa High School in 1955 then married Betty on Aug. 4, 1957. Tom also served in the Navy Reserve. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m., at the Local Union Hall.

Delmar “Bud” Hefferon
Oct. 2, 1913 ~ Feb. 16, 2008
Bud was initiated into IBEW Local 50 May 14th, 1941 and transferred his membership to Local 180 Jan. 9th 1953. Bud retired November 1978 and resided in Southern California until his passing.

James D. Williams
Dec. 14, 1949 ~ May 5, 2008
Jim was a second generation IBEW Local 180 member. His Father, Fred Williams, was a Wireman/Welder. Jim was initiated into Local 180 in 1972.

Hurles Edward “Bud” Mackley, 81,
Feb. 4, 1927 ~ May 19, 2008
 Bud served during World War II in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Philippines. He lived in the Napa Valley for more than 50 years and was a 55-year Local 180 member.

Steven Hammer
June 24, 1958 ~ April 11, 2008
First joined LU180 in 2001 from LU280 and had just recently returned to work in the Local at the State Fund project in Vacaville

George Guhl
Jan. 28, 1920 ~ April 16, 2008
Sixty-year member LU 180 worked for the city of Vallejo for 35 years and retired in 1982, Son, Al Guhl is a LU 180 member

Luis Perez, 27
Local 180 Member since 2005, died from fatal gunshots just outside of his home in San Pablo.  Police are trying to figure out what he was doing the moment he was shot and ask anyone with information to call San Pablo police at 510-215-3150. Alice Breckenridge,
Alice was born 1-1-1914 and in 1936 joined Ken Breckenridge for 72.5 years of marriage.  Ken is a 55-year member of Local 180 and is the current president of the retirees club and Alice served as the recording secretary of the retirees club.
